Ph.D. Fellowship Stipend Disbursement

  • The Graduate School disburses Ph.D. fellowship stipend (non-service stipend) awards directly to students’ accounts. All mandatory fees will be absorbed by the fellowship stipend after tuition and health insurance is covered by full scholarship support. To receive payment of their fellowship stipend, students must request a refund via MyAccess on the credit balance following aid disbursement. Students may elect to receive the refund via direct deposit; if a direct deposit refund profile is not established, a paper check will be mailed to the student's local address. Disbursement typically occurs 10 days before the first day of classes for a semester. Spring semester classes start on January 13th so disbursement will be on January 3rd.
  • The Office of Student Billing & Payment Services (OSBPS) reviews and processes all refund requests within three business days of the request. If a student has unpaid tuition and fees on his/her account, the refund payment will be reduced by that amount.
  • For instructions on how to request a refund and set up a direct deposit refund profile, please visit the Office of Billing and Payment Services’ website at http://studentaccounts.georgetown.edu/faq and http://studentaccounts.georgetown.edu/faq#request2

IMPORTANT NOTE: Graduate students receiving a non-service stipend are not permitted to serve at Georgetown University for the duration of their non-service stipend award. However, they may receive academic prizes and awards.
